JAIPUR:
The matter was heard by Justice Sameer Jain, who imposed a stay on any further training or postings related to the recruitment and scheduled the next hearing for February 10.
"The court on Thursday directed the government to stay the training of all the SIs currently lodged in the Rajasthan Police Academy (RPA) till the investigation is over. Earlier, in November, the HC had also stayed the final posting of SIs of the 2021 batch after training. However, the government informed the HC that they cannot cancel the exam as the investigation is underway," the advocate of the petitioners, Harendra Neel told reporters.
Earlier, on November 18, the Rajasthan HC had stayed the passing out parade of the trainee SIs and also directed the government to decide whether they will cancel the SI 2021 exam within two weeks.
Cabinet minister Kirodi Lal Meena said, "The chief minister (Bhajan Lal Sharma) can only say why the government is not cancelling this exam despite the Special Operations Group (SOG) having suggested the same."
On October 1, the Rajasthan government formed a six-member cabinet committee, led by law minister Jogaram Patel, to oversee actions against those involved in the SI 2021 exam paper leak case. After reviewing the committee's findings, the government submitted an investigation report prepared by the SOG last year. The report recommended the cancellation of the exam following the arrest of over 70 trainee sub-inspectors and two former members of the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC).
