Congress Srinagar district president Irfan Naqeeb on Monday blamed J&K chief minister Omar Abdullah for adopting appeasement policy and bowing down before the Union ministry of home affairs and asked him to instead focus on poll promises made by the party during elections.

Though NC and Congress contested assembly elections jointly, however Congress didn't join the government saying that party's aim is for restoration of J&K's statehood and not the ministerial berths. Congress won six seats in the recently concluded assembly elections; most of the seats the party won in the Kashmir region and drew a blank in the Hindu heartland.
