PUNE: After newly elected MLA from Kasba Peth, Hemant Rasane, pointed out at the end of the winter session on Saturday that the redevelopment of 'Mamledar Kacheri (Court)' in Shukrawar Peth has been stalled for over 20 years, officials from the public works department (PWD) are now claiming that the building will be completed in six months and will be ready to use. "It's been over 20 years that the redevelopment of 'Mamledar Kacheri' has been stalled. I urge the government to look into the issue," Rasane said on Saturday.
Many government offices in Pune city operate from privately-owned properties as the government, despite owning land, is unable to construct administrative and residential buildings owing to lack of funds. Whereas the PWD has proposed that it will develop government plots through privatisation on a build-operate-transfer (BOT) basis.
