RANCHI: While the year gone by witnessed two back-to-back elections and return of Hemant Soren government with a bigger mandate, 2025 is likely to witness strengthening of the deadlock over ₹1.36 lakh crore outstanding dues with the state government having announced to proceed with legal options against the Centre.
The year is also likely to see another close political contest as elections for the 48 urban local bodies including five municipal elections is expected in 2025. Other major events the state could witness include implementation of PESA Rules and appointment of new president of the state unit of Bharatiya Janata Party and appointment of the leader of opposition in the state assembly.
Payment of outstanding dues Jharkhand could witness a major deadlock with the central government over the issue of payment of outstanding dues to the tune of ₹1.36 lakh crore against the central public sector mining firms. As per assessment of the Hemant Soren government, the central mining firms owe the amount to the state against land acquisition for coal mining and royalty, including interest amount.
