RANCHI: The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) partners Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and AJSU Party raised questions about the rationale and commitment of the INDIA bloc-led Jharkhand government over their demand for the disbursal of ₹1.36 lakh crore in outstanding dues with the central mining firms.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Jharkhand BJP chief Babulal Marandi slammed chief minister Hemant Soren, asking the state government to produce factual details as the people of the state have the right to know the truth.
"People have the right to know the reality of ₹1.36 lakh crore. The state government should provide a year-wise breakup of this amount and clarify which projects these pending dues pertain to. The state should also explain the basis of this amount. And thirdly, how much money was realized during the UPA regime and when Shibu Soren was the coal minister," said Marandi.
The statement comes days after the Centre said, in a written reply in the Lok Sabha, that "no share of the state government of Jharkhand in tax earned as revenue from coal to the tune of ₹1.40 lakh crore is lying pending with the government for years".
