DEHRADUN: In a crackdown on drug mafia, Director General of Police (DGP) Uttarakhand Deepam Seth has directed police officials concerned to identify smuggling routes and hotspots used for drug smuggling in the state. He also directed police officials to coordinate with the police of the bordering states, collect intelligence about the gangs involved in the drug business and conduct investigations of drug-related crimes to dismantle the drug network in the state.
Officials aware of the matter said the DGP gave these directions during a meeting with senior police officials on Wednesday evening related to month-long campaign under Drug-free Uttarakhand Mission. The main objective of the month-long campaign which started on December 16 is to take strict action against criminals, smugglers, kingpins and big smugglers involved in drug smuggling and to take concrete steps for eradication of drug abuse.
