KOLKATA: For Lakshmi Das (29), a resident of South 24 Parganas district in West Bengal, a news from Bangladesh has come as an early New Year's gift - her husband Rajesh Das (38), the only breadwinner of the family, is set to be released soon from the Patuakhali jail in the neighbouring country.
Rajesh Das is among the 95 Indian fishermen imprisoned in Bangladesh for crossing the maritime boundary who are set to return home as the Bangladesh's home ministry withdrew cases against them.
"My husband is the only earning member of the family. Me and my 12-year-old son were struggling for the past couple of months. I was unable to pay his school fees and had to borrow from neighbours to run the family," she told HT from Kakdwip in South 24 Parganas.
