Maj Gen Ahlawat envisions UP's Sports University as global hub for sports edu

Maj Gen Deep Ahlawat, VSM (Retd), an Arjuna Awardee and a prominent figure in Indian sports and military administration, has been appointed the vice-chancellor of Major Dhyan Chand Sports University, Uttar Pradesh's first sports university.

MEERUT: The university is being constructed in the Sardhana area of the Meerut district, and Maj Gen Ahlawat assumed the charge on December 17, 2024.

After taking the charge as VC, Maj Gen Ahlawat shared his vision of transforming the university into a world-class institution. "This university will not only set a benchmark for sports education in India but will also cultivate excellence in sports through cutting-edge facilities and scientific training," he stated.
