MCD plans to provide subsidised lab diagnostic services at its 60 facilities

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) is set to provide subsidised laboratory diagnostic services at 60 of its healthcare facilities across the city including all major hospitals, maternity homes and primary healthcare units - by outsourcing the collection centres on a public-private partnership (PPP) mode, senior officials aware of the matter have said.

MCD's hospital administration department has invited bids from private players to set up collection centres for laboratory investigations for a period of five years, the officials said, adding that the sites will be outsourced in three clusters, and the operators will be expected to provide the tests at subsidised rates.

Sharing details of the programme, an MCD official said the laboratory diagnostic units are being developed to benefit the public as well as municipal employees, pensioners, health scheme beneficiaries, and councillors, and a memorandum of understanding (MoU) will be signed with the contractors.
