A powerful way to help environment

THE recycling habits of Irish households have improved dramatically over recent years, as people try to do their bit to help the environment.

The introduction of green and brown bins means much less paper and food waste has been going to landfill.

However, new research shows there are still those unaware that they can recycle their household electrical goods for free.

This is despite the fact that Irish people recycle up to 19 million electrical items a year.

Yet with consumers across Ireland purchasing an increasing amount of electrical items per head each year, we need to go a step further.

More than one in five people are still unaware that their household electrical goods can be recycled for free, according to the research commissioned by WEEE Ireland.

The research comes as leading retailer Aldi is set to host a series of WEEE collection events for customers at various stores in Cork and Kildare in August and September, as part of its longstanding partnership with WEEE Ireland.
