Man facing jail after pouring boiling water over ex-pal in home assault

A WOMAN who had acid thrown at her in a brutal attack as she was held captive in her home has said: "I feel lucky to have survived."

Simone Lee, 43, also had boiling water poured over her back by former friend Christopher Stokes in her Limerick house in May 2021.

Stokes, 39, is due to be sentenced today over the horrific incident.

He mercilessly beat her, placed a bin liner over her head and poured boiling water over her before setting the apartment on fire on May 11, 2021.

Cork's Central Criminal Court yesterday heard the full facts of the case after Stokes pleaded guilty to assault causing harm to Ms Lee and threatening to kill a man named Tim Fehin.

He also pleaded guilty to a count of intentionally or recklessly causing damage by fire to the house in Fairview Crescent on the same date.
