Kenny's superb skill tees up another Rovers victory

AN UPTURN IN FORTUNE

NEARLY half a century on from the birth of the Cruyff turn, last night we had Johnny Kenny’s turn.

With regular Rovers striker Rory Gaffney out of action with an injury, Celtic loanee Kenny got his big chance.

And he took it, slamming in the crucial opener of this superb game as the defending champions’ revival continued.

On this evidence they are clearly the best team in the league.

Strange then how they have only won four of their 11 matches of the campaign.

That’s another story.

This one was about how everything clicked, from their tactical set-up to the range of threats posed by Neil Farrugia on the right, Kenny in attack, Graham Burke in the No.10 role, Jack Byrne in whichever position he chose to pop up in.

The Irish international really was brilliant here, spraying one-touch passes all around the park, hungrily looking for the ball, finding pockets of space wherever he could.
