'No evidence' Adam was drinking, garda tells his inquest
SEN McARTHAIGH
Boy who drowned was afraid of water

A YOUNGSTER who died after getting into difficulty in a lake was "afraid of the water" his inquest heard yesterday.

Tragic teen Adam McCormick was pronounced dead at Temple Street Hospital, Dublin, less than 24 after being pulled from Holywood Lake, near Scotstown, Co Monaghan in 2021.

The 14-year-old had been among a group of youths who earlier had alcohol confiscated by a garda.

But there was no evidence that Adam, from Cabra, Three milehouse, Co Monaghan, had been drinking, Dublin District Coroner's Court heard.
