IRISH people fear AI tech — but not enough to avoid using self-driving cars when they become a reality, according to new research.
Researchers from Trinity College Dublin found people's love of motoring means artificial intelligence tech fears would be overlooked when it comes to advancements in cars.
That's just as well, as it may not be long before we have vehicles just like KITT, David Hasselhoff's sensational car from the 80s hit Knight Rider, which predicted a lot of the AI innovation we have in today's cars.
A TCD spokesperson said: "A significant percentage of people fear AI tech, but not enough to avoid using autonomous cars when they become available.
"This research goes against the Frankenstein complex, where humans are predicted to be hostile to robots and AI because they are afraid of them.
"Researchers from Trinity surveyed 1,233 adults to discover more about their attitudes to using AI tech, specifically autonomous cars.
