Fans set to pack out Dublin city centre for heroic team's reception

DELIGHTED Ireland supporters welcomed the women's football squad back yesterday from their first ever World Cup.

Captain Katie McCabe and coach Vera Pauw were all smiles at Dublin Airport despite reports of friction in the camp following the 0-0 final group match against Nigeria.

The Girls in Green will be celebrated in Dublin today after making history by qualifying, scoring and winning a point at the tournament.

A Garda traffic management plan is in place with motorists and commuters warned of several safety measures during rush hour.

Parts of the city centre are likely to grind to a standstill with Luas lines instructed to close and some entries onto O'Connell St blocked.

The homecoming has been organised by the FAI and Dublin City Council for a bash outside the GPO from 6.30pm.
