Taoiseach says the situation is improving despite CSO figures

PEOPLE won't notice a turnaround in the housing crisis "for a long time" after it happens, Leo Varadkar has warned.

The Taoiseach also said he hoped "no one find facts to be insulting" if he says the situation is improving while thousands of young people emigrate.

The most recent Residential Property Price Index published by the Central Statistics Office for May 2023 shows the median house price is €315,000.

And census figures published by the CSO also show the number of people paying over €400 rent a week has increased to over 52,000 in 2022 from 13,232 in 2016, a 292% hike.
