Alonso insists age is not issue in Hamilton's pursuit of eighth title

FERNANDO ALONSO insists age will be no issue for Lewis Hamilton in his pursuit of a record-breaking eighth world title.

But the veteran Spaniard warned his former McLaren team-mate that Max Verstappen is on course to eclipse his tally of titles and grand prix wins.

Hamilton (above) heads into tomorrow's Spanish Grand Prix on a 30-race losing streak, already 75 points behind Verstappen in the standings.

But Alonso, whose last race win came in Barcelona 10 years ago, reckons 38-year-old Hamilton still has plenty of time left to go past the record of seven drivers' championships he shares with Michael Schumacher.
