Since that Ukraine highlight Kenny's Ireland have only gone backwards..it's just so baffling

SOMEONE asked me if I thought history would be kind to Stephen Kenny whenever he does go as Ireland boss.

The sympathetic answer will be nice guy, nice ideas, gave it everything but just couldn't get it going sufficiently to get the results that mattered.

And fine, I agree with some of that.

But he's been banging the drum for a long time about all the players he has blooded and that's where my gripe is.

Yes, it was brave of him to dish out 19 debuts to players so young. But where are these players? Troy Parrott, Aaron Connolly? These sort of lads, what have they done?

Nathan Collins is their age but looks to be going backwards and you could argue the same of Gavin Bazunu. Chiedozie Ogbene at 26 is the only one making strides.
