A PRISONER who said he found being in custody difficult attacked a guard after complaining that his TV wasn't working.
Malachi Fury, 30, was in his cell when the officer handed him a TV set.
Moments later he smashed the hatch in his cell door, before complaining that he hadn't received bedding and the TV set wasn't working, before setting upon the guard as he tried to assist.
The senior guard was left with a wound to his eyebrow which required stitching, Manchester Crown Court heard. Fury, of no fixed abode, has since pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm and assaulting an emergency worker.
The court heard that the victim was employed as a senior officer at HMP Strangeways when he went to check on Fury in his cell on May 4 last year in the evening. During the visit he gave a TV set to him before leaving.
