The Reds boss is an admirer of Tottenham striker Harry Kane and United fans serenaded the England captain during the 2-2 draw with Spurs on Thursday night, telling him they would 'see him in June!
United know extracting Kane from Spurs will require doing a deal with notoriously tough negotiator Daniel Levy, although his hand is weakened this time by the 29-year-old having just a year left on his current deal.
If United can't do a deal for Kane they will switch targets. Napoli striker Victor Osimhen is of interest and Ten Hag also likes Benfica forward Goncalo Ramos.
While Kane created Spurs' two goals on Thursday, Ten Hag saw Rashford score from the centre-forward position in the first half before Anthony Martial took over in that role for the final 30 minutes.
Loanee Wout Weghorst, who has just two goals in 25 games, also came off the bench, and asked if signing a striker was a priority for the summer, Ten Hag made his feelings clear.
