At the end of last season he cryptically said he is 'closer to leaving than staying sparking fear among fans that he would depart City at the end of his contract in 2025.
Reports that City weren't expecting him to stay only compounded those nerves.

One that he would love to take City to the Club World Cup, a competition that runs past the end of his contract. And two that he never said he was leaving at the end of last season. Just that he won't stay another eight seasons.
