A BUDDING electrician aced his maths GCSE just hours after learning of his mum’s sudden death. Carl Turner, 52, sat his maths exam the morning after he found out that his mum Lynn passed away from a lung haemorrhage at the age of 69.
The Hopwood Hall College and University Centre student, who had never achieved a pass in mathematics and previously served in the army in Iraq, had enrolled onto the free course alongside his studies to become an electrician.
And like many other students across the UK, the dad, from Rochdale, went to pick up his results with his 14-year-old son Luke on Thursday where he was told the news he had passed.
