A TEENAGER has been jailed after slashing a college student in the neck before making ‘slit throat’ gestures.
Ellis Taylor, 19, had bought a Stanley knife moments before a girl had accidentally bumped into him outside the Salford Shopping Precinct. An argument developed between Taylor and the group, before he came to blows with the victim.
A melee ensued during which he ‘lashed out’ with the knife and hit him to the neck. The student was left with a 5cm deep wound, but has since made a full recovery. Taylor, from Wythenshawe, initially ran away, but was caught on CCTV making the ‘slit throat’ gesture to others in the area. He was jailed for over two years.
Nicholas Flanagan, prosecuting, said the victim had been at college and was chatting with some friends at the bus stop near to the Salford shopping centre at around 5pm on January 24 last year.
