The Greater Manchester mayor shared the first details of the Good Landlord Charter.
The charter, which is the first of its kind in the UK, is a voluntary accreditation scheme which would help renters find landlords who meet certain standards while allowing good landlords to differentiate themselves from the bad ones.
Although the scheme is voluntary, Mr Burnham wants to force landlords who receive housing benefits to join. He also wants all renters in Greater Manchester to have a 'right' to have their properties checked free of charge.
