Football fans have their say on safety of European Awaydays'

CONFRONTATIONAL police, woeful transport links to the stadium, and being battered by local ultras, is what City and United fans experience when travelling abroad, according to a new report.

But a trip to Germany or Austria usually guarantees being treated like a normal human being' and a safe away day.

Fans from both clubs reported appalling times in Turkey. Reds described the Galatasaray match of November last year as 'the epitome of a disgrace' and Blues described in detail the logistical debacle of the Champions League Final in Istanbul last year.

Some City fans ended up walking on the motorway in order to reach the Champions League final on time for kick off as the Turkish capital became gridlocked.

There were also huge queues outside the Ataturk Stadium to get in after the fan park closed 90 minutes before the game against Inter Milan began.
