There will be no parade this year, instead Deansgate will be transformed into a 'seaside destination, while huge animal puppets and performers will roam the city streets across the whole afternoon.
Themed as Manchester Day - on Holiday, the family-friendly events will all begin from 12noon, running until 6pm.
Then from 6pm, the party will move into the Northern Quarter for the first Manchester Day evening of celebrations with a carnival atmosphere and live musical performances from creative arts specialists Walk the Plank.
Coun Pat Karney, chair of the event, said: "This year's Manchester Day on Holiday promises to be the highlight of the city's jam-packed summer schedule.
The council and Walk the Plank have been working hard to ensure that this year's Manchester Day on Holiday will be the best outing to date and it will be." He added: "Where else can you enjoy an immersive zoo, a seaside, live performances, a craft market all in one place!"

■Deansgate - 12noon to 6pm
Deansgate will be the main hub of the Manchester Day on Holiday celebrations, taking over the section of road from Peter Street right down to the Cathedral which will be car-free for the day.
