McTominay has denied that colleagues are turning against the boss.
“It is not just a case of some of the other managers where it has been a little bit toxic at times, the boys are firmly behind the manager,” he said at Monday’s press conference.
Maguire has now echoed the same sentiment when asked about dressing room discontent at United. “Don’t always believe what you read!” he told club media.
“I’ve been at this club for five years now, I speak as someone who has been in the dressing room when I say that every player in that dressing room wants to succeed, wants to play for this club and wants to do their best for this club.”
Alan Shearer, though, claimed he could tell there was a lack of harmony among the playing staff after watching the 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth, pointing to body language as one issue.
He also referenced Jadon Sancho’s exile and the change in captaincy as sources of unease too.
Despite having the armband taken off him, Maguire won November’s Premier League player of the month award amid his revamped form. He is arguably the first defender named on Ten Hag’s teamsheet with Raphael Varane out of favour.
