RESIDENTS whose houses were irreparably damaged by an explosion on a street watched helplessly yesterday as their family homes were demolished brick by brick.
Emergency services were sent to the scene on Nelson Street in Fishpool, Bury, at around 11am on Wednesday following the blast and a woman - aged in her 70s - was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
A joint investigation between the fire service, Cadent Gas, police and Bury Council into what caused the explosion is currently under way.
