LABOUR leader Keir Starmer will work 'hand in glove' with Andy Burnham and give him more power if he becomes Prime Minister.
Sir Keir told the M.E.N. that more power will be put in the hands of local leaders in Greater Manchester under a Labour government.
This could include introducing local taxes which would be set by the mayor.
Responding to a question about the rocky relationship between the Labour leader and the Greater Manchester mayor, Sir Keir said his relationship with Mr Burnham is 'actually really good!
The leader of the opposition told the M.E.N. that he had breakfast with Mr Burnham yesterday and saw him at a drinks reception the night before. He also revealed that the pair have been discussing what powers could be devolved to the city-region.
