JAILED businessman Lawrence Jones - convicted of drugging and raping two women is serving time at a prison once dubbed a 'hell hole' where he is said to be teaching fellow inmates to read.
The shamed millionaire was jailed for 15 years in December last year for drugging and raping two women and sexually assaulting another.
The 56-year-old founder of Manchester tech company UKFast, from Hale Barns, has been serving his sentence at HMP Birmingham, which was once dubbed a 'hell hole, according to Manchester business insiders.
The category B prison, which houses about 1,000 inmates, was branded a 'hell hole' in 2018 and the chief inspector of prisons said it was the worst jail he had ever visited, although a followup report last year found the jail was much improved.
Jones, a father of four daughters, is regularly visited there by his wife and business partner Gail and has been teaching fellow inmates to read, the M.E.N. has been told. He is said to be among a band of mentors helping other inmates to read.
