IT'S played host to Paul McCartney, U2, Blondie, New Order and a legendary gig by The Smiths.
And now bands are to return to the stage at Maxwell Hall at Salford University for the first time in 10 years.
It was one of the most influential music venues in Greater Manchester throughout the 60s, 70s and 80s.
Wings played there in 1972 as part of their now-fabled impromptu universities tour, while a 1986 show by The Smiths was once hailed as one of the top 10 concerts of all time.
And on Sunday, May 5, Maxwell Hall will once again host live music when it will be one of the venues taking part in the Sounds From the Other City festival.
