A POLICE officer forced to retire after suffering devastating injuries when she was attacked on duty has launched a new career designing specialist children’s clothing.

Mum-of-two Helen Hignett-Clawson, 40, was a serving officer with Greater Manchester Police.

However, in 2010, while on duty in a hospital car park, she was assaulted by her handcuffed attacker, who struck her multiple times across the head, causing catastrophic injuries.

Helen, who eventually retired from the force in 2016, now suffers from acute hemicrania continua, a chronic and persistent headache and severe hemiplegic migraines, leaving her temporarily paralysed down her right side. She also suffers from seizures, PTSD and fibromyalgia.
