INCREDIBLE aerial pictures show how Stockport's new transport interchange is changing the town's landscape before our eyes.
Work on the project began in the summer of 2021, with the town's old bus station on the banks of the River Mersey being demolished.
And the construction of its £135m replacement, a key pillar of the £1bn transformation of the town centre, is now well underway.
Along with 18 bus stands, able to accommodate 168 buses per hour, new information screens and a travel shop, the new 'state of the art' interchange will also sit beneath a new two-acre landscaped 'podium park' on its roof and be accompanied by a tower block with 196 new 'high quality' apartments.
It will also make Stockport's Metrolink ready with space being left for a potential stop on the site, should the network ever be extended to the town as has been called for as recently as this week.
