Luke Howe's body was discovered in the River Bollin on Friday evening - a day after he went missing from his grandparents' home in Hale, Trafford. Luke, who police said had learning difficulties, was last seen on Bankhall Lane on Thursday evening.
A major search operation was launched and specialist crews worked through the night into Friday morning to try to find Luke.
Searches focused on the River Bollin in Hale and the River Mersey in neighbouring south Manchester. Drones were used, as well as sniffer dogs and specialist response units.
