The cancer has put so much pressure on Selena, we just want her home

A FAMILY is desperately seeking help to get their youngest sister home from Vietnam for treatment at The Christie Hospital following a shock cancer diagnosis.

Selena Danson, from south Manchester, began suffering with back pain in August 2022 which gradually got worse.

Despite numerous trips to hospital, including x-rays, the 39-year-old, who moved to Vietnam to teach, was told she had a slipped disc. However, things escalated and she was rushed to hospital where she was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cervical cancer in December.

The stage-four cancer has sadly spread from her cervix to her lymph nodes and to her liver. Now Selena is desperately seeking to go home to Didsbury and be with her family.

Due to an existing heart condition, she can only be flown back by an air ambulance. But the family say the costs of that are 'enormous' some estimates saying it could be up to £200,000.

Her family have set up a GoFundMe page to raise awareness of Selena and with the hope to return her home. The total amount donated so far is almost £11,000.

Speaking to the M.E.N, her older sister Michelle Danson, 42, said that Selena was born with a heart defect, but it wasn't an issue when she moved to Vietnam to teach.

Michelle added: "Then she started with back pain. She had x-rays and all sorts and they said it was a slipped disc.
