A RETAIL assistant has told how trying for a baby revealed that she had been hit by an extremely rare form of cancer.
Naomi Tedds and husband Matt spent years trying to extend their family before realising something was wrong.
Naomi, 37, turned to doctors for help and though an ultrasound scan showed a build-up of fluid on her uterus, medics didn’t know what was causing it.
It took multiple tests for Naomi to be given the news she was dreading. She had pseudomyxoma peritonei – a cancer diagnosis in just one in a million people a year.
“It just felt surreal,” Naomi told the M.E.N. “You might expect to get cancer at some point, but I didn’t expect to get it at 37.
“It didn’t feel like it was really happening, but I knew it was at the same time. I didn’t even feel sick. All I had was this side pain which kept coming and going.
