BOSSES at Manchester council are 'at the cliff edge' of making 'difficult and unpalatable' financial decisions in the next few years.
That's according to its finance executive member, Rabnawaz Akbar, as the authority prepares to pass its budget for 2024/25 next month.
Speaking at a resources scrutiny meeting, Coun Akbar said the authority would be in the 'difficult and unpalatable' position if 'we do not get more funding' before 2027, when council reserves will be completely drained. To balance its budget this year, and bring down a multi-million-pound shortfall, officers have chosen to spend £17 million per year over the next three years.
