'We heard screams, then police arrived'

MURDER PROBE LAUNCHED AFTER MUM'S DEATH

NEIGHBOURS reportedly heard ‘screams’ before a mum tragically died – leaving a community in shock.

Floral tributes filled up the back entrance of a home on Hyde Road, in Gorton, following the death of 43-year-old Charlene Mills.

Described in a tribute by her family as ‘beautiful inside and out’, a murder investigation into her death has been launched by police.

Officers had initially been called to a concern for the welfare of a woman at a property at around 11.20am on Saturday, but Charlene was later pronounced dead. Throughout yesterday, tearful family members gathered as heartfelt floral tributes were laid down on the pavement.

On the main road, directly opposite Debdale Park, a lone police officer remained stationed at the front of the property, which was cordoned off throughout Sunday, as detectives and forensics were seen collecting evidence amid investigations.
