MUMBAI: Sanjay Malhotra, a 1990-batch IAS officer of the Rajasthan cadre, assumed office as the 26th Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Wednesday. The 56-year-old takes the helm at a challenging time marked by surging inflation, slowing growth, and a depreciating rupee, promising to focus on fostering trust, ensuring stability, and driving growth.
Speaking to reporters at the RBI headquarters on Mint Street, Malhotra expressed his commitment to serving the public interest. "We will put our best foot forward to deliver what the public of India looks forward to: trust, growth, and a stable and certain policy,” he said during his maiden interaction as Governor.
