Reserve Bank’s ratesetting panel started its threeday deliberations for the next set of bi-monthly monetary policy amid expectations of no change in benchmark interest rate in view of concerns on inflation and economic growth remaining steady.
The decision of the RBI Governor Shaktikanta Dasheaded six-member Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) will be announced on Thursday.
The MPC may also refrain from rate cut as economic growth is picking up, notwithstanding the elevated interest rate of 6.5 per cent (repo rate), said experts.
Retail inflation based on consumer price index (CPI) increased to a four-month high of 5.08 per cent in June as food items, including vegetables became dearer. The government will release the data for July later this month.
