These versatile FPVs, designated for the Indian Coast Guard (ICG), will be conceptualized, developed, and manufactured by MDL in India, aligning with the Buy (Indian-IDDM) Category.

The ministry disclosed that the vessels are scheduled for delivery within a total timeframe of 63 months.

Designed to be multi-role, the FPVs will be equipped with state-of-the-art features such as multipurpose drones, wirelessly controlled remote water rescue craft lifebuoys, and artificial intelligence capabilities.

This advanced technology aims to provide the ICG with enhanced flexibility and operational advantages, enabling them to address contemporary multidimensional challenges. The ministry emphasized that these modern FPVs will significantly contribute to various operations, including fisheries protection, monitoring, anti-smuggling, search and rescue, marine pollution response, towing, and antipiracy efforts, particularly in shallow waters.
