The Food Corporation of India (FCI) has successfully procured 266 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) of wheat in the ongoing Rabi Marketing Season (RMS) 2024-25, surpassing the previous year’s procurement of 262 LMT. This increase reflects a significant improvement from the 188 LMT procured during RMS 2022-23.
This achievement was highlighted in an official release by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution on July 3. The ministry emphasized that over 22 lakh Indian farmers have benefited from this year’s wheat procurement. Notably, the government has credited approximately Rs. 61 lakh crore directly into the bank accounts of these farmers immediately upon the purchase of their wheat at the Minimum Support Price (MSP).
