The strike, starting at 6 AM, has resulted in the shutdown of petrol stations across Karachi and nationwide, following the PPDA’s directive.
Despite the strike, sources indicate that petroleum products are still being supplied from the ports by Pakistan State Oil (PSO) and other oil marketing organizations. This continued supply highlights a complex situation where, despite the strike’s disruption, some fuel distribution channels remain operational.
Interestingly, the Oil Tanker Owners Association has chosen to disassociate itself from the petroleum merchants’ strike. According to Shams Shahwani, the President of the Oil Tanker Owners Association, fuel is still being provided to essential services such as power plants, airports, and railroads. This decision suggests a division within the petroleum supply industry regarding the strike and its impact.
