The interim report is submitted by the Judicial probe committee before the Punjab And Haryana High Court that deceased Subh Karan Singh who was hit by the pellets 'in Haryana' during farmers' protest.

The Judicial Probe Committee opined with regards to cause of death and which type of weapon was used, that it would be appropriate to direct the investigating agency to get a report from the Central Forensic Laboratory, CFSL Chandigarh.

The court noted that the Committee formed ais of the considered opinion that the place of occurrence was within the jurisdiction of the State of Haryana and nowhere else.

In the present case, Singh lost his life on February 21 while protesting, inter-alia, for the demand of a law guaranteeing Minimum Support Price, MSP for crops on the Punjab-Haryana border.

It was also alleged before the court that Singh died after being hit by a bullet fired by the Haryana police.

The court on March 07 stated that the investigation into the death of Singh, could not be handed over to Punjab or Haryana 'for obvious reasons' 'as both the States have several things to cover up', and the three-member committee was constituted which consists of a retired High

Court judge Justice Jaishree Thakur and two officers of ADGP rank from Haryana and Punjab.
