The Business Guardian|August 01, 2023
Kotak Mahindra Bank, a private sector lender, responded to a media report claiming that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is pushing the bank to appoint an outsider as the successor to its current CEO, Uday Kotak.
Reserve Bank of India silent on Kotak CEO succession

Kotak’s term is set to end in December, and due to the new RBI rules on limiting CEO tenures, he cannot continue in the role.

The bank clarified that it has not received any formal or informal communication from the RBI regarding the CEO succession. Uday Kotak has announced that he will remain a non-executive board member of the bank, where he holds a 26% stake, making it one of the few large private sector banks with prominent promoter shareholders.
