A special court on Tuesday asked the Juvenile Justice Board to conduct an inquiry into the claim of seven Somali pirates that they are minors. They were among 35 pirates who were caught by the Indian Navy from ship MV Ruen in a high seas operation that lasted over 40 hours after beginning on March 15.
Seven of them also produced documents, claiming them to be issued by the Somali embassy, testifying that they are minors. Hence, they cannot be tried at a regular court.
