The farmers of Punjab and Haryana are in no mood to forgive and forget. Sixty villages in Haryana banned the entry of BJP candidates from canvassing in their village. In Punjab, the number is even larger.

A telling poster in Punjab states, Kisana da Delhi jana band hai, BJP da pinda vich auna band hai (Farmers are banned from entering Delhi, BJP is banned from entering villages).

Different farmers forums, including Kisan Mazdoor Morcha and BKU Ekta Ugraham affiliated to the Sanyukt Kisan Morcha, have intensified these protests to the extent that BJP candidates are seeking the help of the local police in order to convince villagers to soften their stand.

In Haryana, the farmers in the Jat-dominated belt of Hisar, Sirsa, Fatehabad, Jind, Sonipat and Rohtak districts have refused to relent.

The entire Chautala clan led by the father Ajay, his wife Naina and sons Dushyant and Digvijay are being heckled and boycotted. Last week,

Naina Chautala was not allowed to enter a village in the Hisar constituency of Haryana and has gone publ epaper.free to state that this is the price we have to pay for siding with anti-farmers party like the BJP'.

Both Dushyant and Digivay have been heckled and so has their uncle, Ranjit Singh Chautala, the BJP nominee from Hisar, all of whom have been prevented from entering Jat-dominated villages.

The BJP is blaming former Congress chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda for instigating the farmers but his answer to these accusations is, "People who voted for the BJP are clearly disap- to state that this is the price we have to pay for siding with anti-farmers party like the BJP'.
