DMK front creates history with a 40-0 sweep in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry

KING CONG & CO IN SOUTH

A strong anti-Modi plank and alliance arithmetic coupled with a splintered opposition, helped the MK Stalin-led DMK, the INDIA bloc leader in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, create a history of sorts by making a 40-0 sweep in the Lok Sabha election on Tuesday. It's been for the first time in over three decades that an alliance has scored back-to-back landslide victories in the Lok Sabha elections in Tamil Nadu. In 2019, DMK front won 38 seats in Tamil Nadu and the lone seat in Puducherry.

Overall, the electorate in the Dravidian heartland rejected the BJP-led NDA for the third straight time since 2014, proving right Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's famous statement that "You (BJP) can never ever in your lifetime rule over the people in Tamil Nadu."
