Commuters of BEST buses, which are often referred to as Mumbai's second lifeline, are reeling under longer waiting times and increasing overcrowding, particularly during rush hours.
Currently, the strength of the bus fleet has dipped below 3,000, with only 2,926 buses on the road as of Tuesday, including the wet-lease vehicles. BEST is struggling to meet the demands of 3.5 million daily passengers.
