SEBI chairperson's statements raise more questions: Cong
The Free Press Journal|September 18, 2024
The Congress on Tuesday claimed that the statement issued by SEBI chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch and her husband, Dhaval, on the "multiple conflict of interest" allegations levelled against them by it as also the Hindenburg Research report had only raised "more questions" instead of answering the issues at hand.

The party again raised the issue a day after Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said at a media event that "facts need to be taken on board" regarding allegations against Buch. She had also pointed to the statement released by the couple to put forth their views on the allegations.

The Congress has over the past fortnight held five press conferences to accuse Buch of "conflict of interest" on various counts. Its attacks against her had begun soon after US-based Hindenburg Research had in a report in August had accused her and her husband of having stakes in obscure offshore funds used in the alleged Adani money siphoning scandal.
